Broncos fans turned a dream Chiefs opener into the NFL’s dumbest outrage

Denver fans are melting down over a Week 1 trip to Arrowhead even though the schedule setup might actually help Denver more than Kansas City.

The new NFL season hasn’t even started yet, and I’m already sick of the Denver Broncos and their self-entitled fanbase. The league announced that Denver will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 1, with the game to be played at Arrowhead Stadium.

Cue pandemonium in Broncos Country.

Broncos' fans have been up in arms since the location of the game was confirmed, whining about something stupid while getting caught up in their own narcissism.

Denver fans are absurdly melting down over a Week 1 trip to Arrowhead.

How could the NFL have the nerve, the audacity, to give the Broncos a road game to open the season? How dare the league insult and disrespect the AFC Championship Game losers like that?

“The Broncos DESERVE to have Week 1 against the Chiefs on Monday Night Football at HOME,” said DNVR beat reporter Zac Stevens yesterday.

“Denver swept the Chiefs last year, were the No. 1 seed and would have made the Super Bowl if Bo Nix didn't get hurt.”

Cry me a river, Zac. Kyle Brandt from Good Morning Football and other Broncos fan accounts echoed the same sentiment.

It's a ridiculous take that reeks of a type of arrogance and self-centeredness that only Broncos fans can exude. It’s a good thing Denver fans don’t have to wear helmets; they wouldn’t be able to fit their big heads into them.

The Broncos don’t deserve anything. The only team that is guaranteed to open the season at home is the reigning Super Bowl Champion. That’s it. Yes, Denver won the AFC West, but that doesn’t “earn” them anything.

Last season, five of the division winners from 2024 played their opening game on the road. The Chiefs, the reigning AFC Champions, started the season in Brazil one year removed from winning back-to-back Super Bowls. This year, the Los Angeles Rams, who lost in the conference championship game last season just like Denver, will play in Australia in Week 1.

The outrage from Broncos fans is doubly frustrating because not only is it based on a false sense of entitlement, but playing at Arrowhead in Week 1 is actually an advantage for the Broncos in the long run.

With no certainty about whether Patrick Mahomes will be available to play in Week 1, there’s a realistic chance the Broncos could be facing Justin Fields instead of the two-time NFL MVP. Plus, having the second meeting against a division title rival at home in a game that could decide who wins the AFC West is way more preferable than being on the road to start the season.

I don’t know what makes me angrier, the arrogance of a perceived slight that isn’t a slight, or Denver fans being annoyed about a perceived slight that is actually beneficial. Broncos fans need to grow up and quit their complaining. I’m sick of their crap already.
