49ers wide receiver situation for TNF is a comedy show for Chiefs fans

Kansas City Chiefs fans don't have a horse in the race when it comes to this week's Thursday Night Football match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams. So why are we talking about it then? Well, that's where it gets pretty comical.

The 49ers have been heavily bit by the injury bug so far this season and that includes their wide receiver position. They won't have Jauan Jennings or Ricky Pearsall this week against the Rams due to injuries, and the group of receivers who will be active for this one will make Chiefs fans crack up laughing.

Three of the five wideouts available for this one used to wear the Chiefs red and gold at one point during their careers and none of them were particularly daunting during their time in K.C.

Chiefs fans can’t stop laughing at 49ers starting three of their old wideouts on TNF

In one corner, there's Demarcus Robinson, who spent the first six years of his career with the Chiefs after they selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 draft. Funny enough, Robinson had a decent season with the Rams last year and then he joined their biggest rival in the offseason and will now be expected to be Mac Jones' top target on Thursday night.

In another corner, there's Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who, to his credit, had the potential to be a good weapon for Patrick Mahomes during his Chiefs tenure. MVS played with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay for the first four years of his career and then went from one MVP to another, joining Mahomes and the Chiefs in 2022 and making some clutch catches but mostly being looked at as a disappointment.

In the final corner, there's the one and only Skyy Moore, a former second-round pick by the Chiefs who amounted to very little during his K.C. tenure. Aside from his touchdown catch in Super Bowl LVII, Moore did next to nothing as a Chief and was traded to the 49ers before the season got underway. Fans were elated when that finally happened.

The fact that the 49ers are relying on Chiefs wide receiver castoffs in a crucial NFC West match-up is quite comical. The Chiefs used to always rely on 49ers castoff quarterbacks to help them right the ship so hey, maybe this is a little bit of payback for all of that (as if those two Super Bowl wins over San Francisco didn't rub enough salt in the wound).

Chiefs fans know exactly what to expect from this trio but watching it play out will be nothing short of hilarious.
