While it seems like very little is going on at Arrowhead Stadium these days, at least in terms of front-office activity, it’s easy to forget a lot of the late spring and summer is spent on behind-the-scenes planning and negotiations with some of a team’s better players in order to secure their services for the long term. For the Kansas City Chiefs, this brings up a number of potential players who could ink contract extensions.
The name often bandied about is defensive tackle Chris Jones, and for good reason. But what about others? After all, the Chiefs have several players entering a contract year including cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, linebacker Willie Gay, punter Tommy Townsend, and more.
Who will the Chiefs choose to sign to an extension? Who will enter the year without the security they’re likely hoping for? And how will such hopes and desires affect the locker room?
