The Kansas City Chiefs have signed another rookie from Kansas State in cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe.

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially reached a deal with another rookie from Kansas State this spring with word that they’ve signed cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe.

Boye-Doe played alongside Chiefs first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah during his college career and the signing now reunites the Wildcats as hopeful defenders to make the team’s active roster.

The Chiefs recently held a rookie minicamp with several tryouts as well and Boye-Doe was a part of that group of prospects. He was reportedly set to join the Washington Commanders shortly thereafter for another opportunity to sign on but K.C. didn’t want to let him get away.

Boye-Doe faces a long uphill climb to make the team’s active roster at this stage, but this signing is likely all about competition for a long-term play on the practice squad. The Chiefs will keep a few players in this category and Boye-Doe can compete for such a spot along with DiCaprio Bootle, Isaiah Norman, Anthony Withersone, Kahlef Hailassie, Reese Taylor, Anthony Cook and other fringe defensive backs.

Boye-Doe had 26 tackles, 5 pass deflections, and 1 forced fumble last year for the Wildcats. He profiles well against the run and should compete for a special teams role over time if he can stave off the competition in training camp.
