To address the elephant in the room, kicker Harrison Butker had his fair share of struggles last year. Butker had the worst performance of his career making only 75% of his field goals, well below his career average of 88.2%. However, it’s important to note that Butker suffered an ankle sprain in Week 1 which continued to bother him for months. When healthy, he is nearly automatic. A reliable kicker is perhaps the most underrated asset an NFL team can have, and Butker will surely be ready for redemption a he enters next season fully healthy.
Punter Tommy Townsend, however is coming off of the best season of his career in which he was named 1st Team All-Pro while also making the Pro Bowl. Townsend recorded his longest punt, longest yards per punt, and lowest touchback percentage of his career. Though the top offense in the league doesn’t need to rely on the atomic leg of Townsend too often, it is still nice to have in the back pocket. Finally, it would be a crime to make it through the roster without mentioning long snapper James “The Rifleman” Winchester, who will remain a Chief for his ninth consecutive year.
