Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has a lot of opportunities in the 2023 NFL Draft. Will he take them with these three teams?

The Kansas City Chiefs are the host team for the 2023 NFL Draft, bringing the beauty and culture of Kansas City to a wider audience. The event will draw in hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life. They might worry about what their team will do once the clock starts ticking, but Chiefs fans are feeling good about their team’s general manager, Brett Veach, finalizing the picks. The last two Chiefs’ draft classes have been great, erasing the memory of Veach’s rocky start in the draft. Veach’s recent track record should give fans confidence that the Chiefs will succeed once again in 2023. But anything can happen during the draft.

Chiefs Kingdom has various ideas of what the team will do in the draft’s opening round. With the very last pick in round one, the options may be bleak once the 31st overall selection rolls around. However, the Chiefs have a history of finding hidden gems in later rounds, so fans should not lose hope. Additionally, they may choose to trade up or down to secure a player they want. There are pockets of fans making the argument that the Chiefs would not trade out of the first round simply because the draft is in Kansas City. While the opening night without the Chiefs would be boring for Kansas City fans, Veach will certainly do what is best for business.

Any trade takes two to tango. This isn’t PFF’s mock draft simulator, where you can force another team to trade with you. There has to be a plan ahead, a motive, and ultimately a fair deal. If Veach sees an opportunity to secure more draft capital or a certain player high on their board, he will make it happen within reason. Some trade partners both up and down the draft order make sense for Kansas City to pair with, depending on how the board falls. Who are these partners, and what could a trade package look like between them and the Chiefs?
