Actor Henry Winkler is waiting on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to take him up on an offer of a specially cooked chicken dinner.

There’s a sort of mutual admiration society thing going on between Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and acclaimed actor Henry Winkler. Now the pair are trading dinner plans and memorabilia and Winkler is ready to host Mahoms for a chicken dinner.

Winkler is an actor famous for his roles on Happy Days and most recently from the HBO show Barry.

The chemistry between the two started with Winkler’s appearance on the Rich Eisen show in which he said he’d love to trade a jersey for a chicken dinner. Eisen played the tape for Mahomes and the Chiefs QB issued an invite to Winkler to show up at a game at SoFi Stadium when K.C. visited the Chargers. We’ll let Winkler pick up the storytelling from here from his interview on the Kelly Clarkson Show.

“I walked down on the field,” said Winkler. “He comes running up to me. This is a very big person. This is about six or seven people in one. And here’s the thing: you know when you hug somebody and your finger, you push in and there’s a little give. No give. It’s like a can of soup. Hard. He said, ‘I’ve got a surprise for you’ and he gave me his jersey.

Now he’s going to play a big game, hitting and running and throwing and hurting—all the things—and just before, as he runs off, he turns around and goes, ‘I’m gonna take you up on that dinner.’ When? I’d like to know when.”
