NFL mock draft 2.0: KC Chiefs trade way up for bold selection
By Grant Tuttle
The Cowboys parted with Ezekiel Elliot this offseason, marking the end of an era. While they have Tony Pollard on the roster because of the franchise tag, he is recovering from a fracture in his leg. It might be time to find the new Zeke. Bijan Robinson is a top player in this class, but is a running back. With good speed, agility, and power, Robinson is the whole package. He could become the next great Cowboys running back. In an offense that relies on added rushing production, he makes perfect sense.
The Bills are publicly very happy with Gabriel Davis, but after a loss to the Bengals in the playoffs in which they looked useless on offense, it is clear that some changes could be in order. Stefon Diggs might need a new running mate. Enter: Jalin Hyatt. Hyatt was a very talented option in Tennessee. With great quickness in and out of his routes as well as great ball skills, Hyatt could be a terrific new weapon for Josh Allen and company.
The Bengals are loaded with pass-catchers, but they lost Hayden Hurst to the Panthers this offseason. With Joe Burrow’s looming contract and two potentially expensive wide receivers, it may be wise to add the top tight end option available in this year’s draft class. Michael Mayer is that. With a unique combination of size and speed, he is an instant mismatch. For the Bengals, he could be an incredible red zone threat and his blocking isn’t bad, either.
From San Francisco
The Saints are in a weird place. They seem to always be pushed up against the cap, yet don’t have a ton of superstars. With a need for a pass-rusher outside of Cam Jordan, drafting an EDGE at 29 would be the way to go. Keion White could be a great option in that case. With great, raw athleticism and a strong build, Keion White could make the Saints defense more explosive and pave a way for them to win more games in the following seasons.
With Bijan Robinson off the board, the Eagles really only have one “need” on offense: Running back. While the Eagles might look to move back, if they can’t find a partner, they might want to draft the Miles Sanders replacement. Jahmyr Gibbs has deceptive speed and has the kind of explosiveness in which he could score any time that he touches the ball. In addition to his running ability, Gibbs is also a very capable receiver. For the Eagles, he could be a difference-maker.
From Kansas City in projected Trade
Hendon Hooker has taken quite a few top 30 visits. The Tampa Bucs have been one of those teams sniffing around. If they were to make a trade to move back, they might want to still select him in the first round to gain the fifth-year option. While Hooker might not be a first-round caliber quarterback, he is capable. He is a high-risk, high-reward option at the end of the first round. With Baker Mayfield at the helm, Hooker would be worth the gamble.
