The Kansas City Chiefs spent Monday with one of the NFL Draft’s most celebrated wide receiver prospects in Quentin Johnston.

For those members of Chiefs Kingdom who are hoping their favorite team is looking for a dynamic new wide receiver in the 2023 NFL Draft, some good news surfaced this week. NFL reporter Ian Rapoport posted on Wednesday that the Kansas City Chiefs spent time earlier this week with TCU wideout Quentin Johnston.

Johnston is considered one of the best overall wide receiver prospects in the draft by nearly every draft analyst or media outlet, a name that among the first few players mentioned at the position when it comes to rankings on draft boards. In fact, it might be a surprise that the Chiefs are spending an official visit with him knowing that he could be gone by the time K.C. is scheduled to pick at No. 31 overall in the first round.

Johnston had a breakout season last year for the Horned Frogs with 60 catches and 1,069 receiving yards to go with 6 touchdowns. His pre-draft workouts have only created more believers in his skill set, with many scouts believing he could reach higher ceilings at the professional level—especially with stronger quarterback play. The blend of length, size, speed, burst, and agility is quite compelling.

For the Chiefs, the team already has a nice trio of Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in house—and there’s reason to believe that each could get better in their second season with the Chiefs. Travis Kelce is also a vital component as the top pass catcher on the team. However, there’s still a need for another young playmaker, especially as Kelce gets older and the Chiefs try to find an answer for the loss of JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman in free agency.

Rapoport also noted that Johnston will visit with the Baltimore Ravens this week as well.
