Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA
Projected Round: 6-7
Fit in Andy Reid’s offense: High
Analysis: Dorian Thompson-Robinson is extremely athletic and when Andy Reid is the coach that you have, sometimes that is all you need. Not only is Thompson-Robinson mobile, but he also has a very strong arm that would fit a high-volume passing offense. While he has virtually no chance of being taken early, he is probably the most appealing “project” in the draft.
At times, Thompson-Robinson would flash the sort of abilities that seemed to be in the top-tier of quarterbacks in this class. However, there were a lot of times when he would miss open receivers or overthrow targets. With NFL coaching and assistance from scheme, he may be able to improve and be a talented backup. If Andy Reid was capable of making Kevin Kolb a tradable asset, he could certainly do the same with Thompson-Robinson.
To me, it seems that if the Chiefs are going to be taking a quarterback in the draft as a backup for Mahomes, this would be the right range. In the sixth and seventh rounds, there are a number of options. To me, Thompson-Robinson is the best option.
