Ronald Jones II, Running Back

Perhaps the most polarizing player on the entire roster last season was running back Ronald Jones. Many thought he was a lock to make the team after training camp but the emergence of Isiah Pacheco threw a wrench into everything. The Chiefs decided to carry four running backs but Jones was the odd one out as he was scratched for the first ten games of the season. He did dress in six of the final seven regular season games because of an injury to Clyde Edwards-Helaire. In those six games, he racked up a respectable 70 yards on 18 carries.

Many fans clamored for the veteran to see an increased role since they believed he brought more to the table than someone like Clyde Edwards-Helaire. While Jones did see some success early in his career, he lacks speed and pass-blocking ability, so it makes perfect sense why the Chiefs weren’t too keen on giving him a regular role on offense. He did earn a Super Bowl ring but he had very little to do with it.

Although he was on the roster the entire year, his grade will suffer since he played less of a role than what was originally anticipated.

The Grade: D+
