As teams go about the business of roster construction for the 2023 season, the National Football League is preparing for the three-day whirlwind of activities known as the 2023 NFL Draft. Each year, seven rounds worth of college prospects are selected after months of workouts, interviews, medical checks, and exhibitions, and somehow the drama lures in the interests of millions—as if an actual sporting event was being played.

This year, there are quarterbacks aplenty being considered at the top of the draft, while the Kansas City Chiefs are hanging out at the end of each round—the “punishment” for having won Super Bowl LVII. Even there, the Chiefs have been fortunate to find excellent prospects who can help immediately and they’ll look to do so again this year.
