Chiefs news: Pennsylvania county celebrates Skyy Moore Day
By Matt Conner
Skyy Moore was celebrated with his own day and parade back home near Pittsburgh.
If you want to know just how far the ripples of fanfare reach from Super Bowl glory, just know that Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania recently set aside a day in honor of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore.
Skyy Moore Day was held in the greater Pittsburgh area on Thursday of this week, March 16, went to high school in the area and was honored with a proclamation of achievements from local politicians and civic leaders. From there, a parade was held the following day, on Friday night, to further celebrate Moore and the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win.
Moore was, of course, an unlikely hero late in the game when he experienced a heartening moment of redemption when he returned a punt near the end of Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles for 29 yards to set up the Chiefs’ final game-winning score. Even more, it was success in the face of previous failures.
Earlier in the season, Moore had fumbled the ball on multiple punt return attempts to the point that Chiefs Kingdom could not believe the team’s insistence on giving him chances. Fortunately, the Super Bowl performance helped the rookie wideout end the season on a high note as he went into the offseason.
