If you want to know the skinny on all things Saturday Night Live, then the latest episode of New Heights featuring Travis Kelce is what you need.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had one helluva season in 2022, but the momentum hasn’t stopped for the future Hall of Famer. In fact, he’s enjoying the offseason just about as much with Super Bowl celebrations and television appearances.

If you haven’t yet watched Kelce as the host of Saturday Night Live from last weekend, you need to watch that first before you take in the latest episode of New Heights, his podcast co-hosted by his brother Jason Kelce. That’s because Travis dishes on all kinds of SNL details in the episode.

The latest episode of New Heights is dominated by the brothers’ week in New York as they both made appearances on the show. Travis also walks the listener through what a week involves leading up to a live broadcast of the long-running sketch comedy show.

“It’s so wild. It’s such a well-oiled machine,” says Kelce when first describing his SNL experience.  Not only did he get to meet everyone involved but even stars like Steven Spielberg were in the audience to add to the weekend.

As for the planning itself, Travis said he wrote down some initial sketch ideas but realized quickly that they weren’t needed.

“They already have shit for you when you walk in the door—and not just an idea but an entire written sketch. So I didn’t even go bark up that tree,” said Kelce. “I was like, ‘Yo, I’m not presenting any ideas. I’ll give some input on some stuff if they shoot it my way but I’m just going to let these professionals handle everything and I’ll just buckle my seat belt and enjoy the drive.’”

Overall, Kelce said he had an amazing week to remember and specifically wanted to thank K.C. native and SNL cast member Heidi Gardner for her help.

“I had an absolute blast, man. The cast and the writers and everybody involved made it everything that I was ever expecting and hoping. Can’t say enough about Heidi Gardner and who she is and how she really pushed the envelope of getting a Kansas City football guy in that building to host or just to be a part of the show.”
