Former Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Tanoh Kpassagnon is ready to re-sign with the Saints this offseason.
As the National Football League gets ready for the free agency frenzy coming in March, various teams are working out what to do with their own players. One former member of the Kansas City Chiefs found a home with the New Orleans Saints over the last two years and now it appears pass rusher Tanoh Kpassagnon is ready to stay another couple of seasons in the Big Easy.
NFL reporter Tom Pelissero has word that the Saints are working on a new contract extension to keep Kpassagnon around for multiple seasons.
Kpassagnon first signed with the Saints two years ago but suffered through injuries that kept him out of most of that first season. However, this year he rebounded to play 15 games and put up 28 total tackles and 2 sacks. In limited action, Kpassagnon had 4 sacks last season for the Saints.
Given the fact that others at the position could also leave via free agency, the Saints are at least keeping some of their rotational depth with a new deal for Kpassagnon. Marcus Davenport is slated for free agency, and Pro Football Focus even predicted that he would sign with the Chiefs.
The Chiefs first drafted Kpassagnon as a project pass rusher out of Villanova in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft (sandwiched between the team’s picks for Patrick Mahomes and running back Kareem Hunt). He had 7 sacks in four seasons for the Chiefs.
