Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has joined the chorus of Eric Bieniemy’s defenders.

We’re going to assume that LeSean McCoy is hiding out somewhere waiting for the dust to settle. At the very least, he’s likely regretting ever opening his mouth to speak ill of Eric Bieniemy’s coaching acumen given the backlash to the criticism and the ensuing resounding support for the former Chiefs offensive coordinator in recent days.

In case you’ve been on vacation or perhaps just still a bit too hung over from the Chiefs’ win in Super Bowl LVII, McCoy spoke out against Bieniemy the other day, repeating the same sorts of opinions he’s espoused in the past about Bieniemy ineffective coaching style. Specifically, he stated that there are clear reasons known behind the scenes as to why Bieniemy has had a tough time finding a head coaching role.

What’s interesting here is that every player and coach has hung McCoy out to dry. Former and current Chiefs have rallied around their longtime coach—including former superstars like Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu. Andy Reid has sung Bieniemy’s praises and now Patrick Mahomes is the latest to join in the chorus.

Now that Bieniemy is away from Kansas City, there’s no pressure for any player to speak out about Bieniemy, but that didn’t stop Mahomes from pouring on the praise.

In case there are issues with being able to read the tweet (or if it gets deleted somehow), Mahomes wrote:

"“There should be no questions on how great of a man/coach Coach Bienemy is. His leadership has a direct impact on the player/person i am today! 10+ years learning under one of the greatest coaches of all time.. and i cannot wait for him to continue to prove doubters wrong!”"

Bieniemy served as the offensive coordinator for the Chiefs in every one of Mahomes’ first five years as a starter in the league and was around as running backs coach before then for a year while Mahomes learned on the bench.

Here’s what’s trending in Chiefs news

Isaiah Pacheco voted Mack Lee Hill winner

What an incredible win for Pacheco and a great story for the Chiefs. What’s insane is how hard of a vote this must have been since George Karlaftis and Trent McDuffie both played like the first-round talents that they were selected to be. In addition, Joshua Williams, Jaylen Watson, and Bryan Cook all turned in solid performances in the secondary as well. But Pacheco was a true force in the backfield once he settled into the lead back role.

The Chiefs Didn’t Need Analytics To Win Another Championship (538)

The Chiefs don’t always follow the analytics, but as it turns out, per 538, they don’t have to when they have Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes as the core offensive tandem.
