Gotta love the way Twitter can take a strange situation and make it even more hilarious for the Denver Broncos.
Look, we stopped trying to figure out the Denver Broncos quarterback situation some time ago.
On Thursday, the Broncos apparently came to the decision to hire Davis Webb, a 28-year-old back-up quarterback for the New York Giants (behind Daniel Jones) as their new quarterbacks coach. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter came out with the official word and it took the internet all of 30 seconds to come up with a belly laugh in return in the form of hilarious tweets.
Before we get to those, however, we just first have to lay out exactly what is happening here in order to try to logically understand it. Yes, it’s a fool’s errand, but there has to be some reason for what is happening at Mile High, right?
Sean Payton was supposed to stop the madness here and bring back some respectability to a team that needs it in a major way. After all they have lost 15 straight games to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West and look like they’re ready to sit in the divisional basement once again with serious roster holes, a lack of draft picks, and a long-term commitment to a roasted veteran quarterback in Russell Wilson.
There’s nothing wrong at all with hiring Davis Webb as a coach, but this is a huge leap forward for a player’s first coaching stop of any kind. That said, the Broncos need to do anything they can to figure out Patrick Mahomes, and now they’ve hired his former teammate at Texas Tech.

One of our instant favorite responses to come out frames Wilson, as a 34-year-old, with Webb, as his QB coach in the right light.

The same joke can be made several times, because it’s all still funny.

Some questions about how Russ Wilson will respond were among the many questions on Twitter.

This is great because there's no way Russ will listen to some guy who spent a career as a third-string nobodyhttps://t.co/M0SRo90R1k

Russell Wilson looked utterly broken last season and Sean Payton thinks the solution includes, at least in part, Literally Joe Lombardi and a 28 year-old in the first coaching job of his life. https://t.co/U9LYrXB0fN

And the meme that works best here was used by Robert Griffin III.
