KC Chiefs find new cornerstone tackle in 5-round NFL mock draft
The Chiefs address their pass rush with Andre Carter II from Army. There were concerns that he would not be eligible to play in the NFL right away due to his military commitment as a potential provision in a bill last year would have mandated all U.S. Military Academy graduates complete their military obligations before playing professional sports. Fortunately, that portion of the bill was amended and Carter II is eligible to play in the NFL right away and can defer his service.
The Chiefs have a lot of question marks on their defensive line as Chris Jones is due a contract extension soon, Frank Clark’s future in KC is a question mark, and Carlos Dunlap/Mike Danna are free in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Some of Carter’s greatest assets are his size and wingspan. He’s 6-7, 260 pounds with an 82″ wing span. There are concerns regarding his hands and run defense but he should be a better player in the NFL since he’ll be focused solely on football for the first time in several years.
