After winning Super Bowl LVII, what does a five-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft look like for the KC Chiefs? Which positions could they target?

The Kansas City Chiefs are once again Super Bowl champions after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in the Big Game 38-35. Now that their season is over, Brett Veach and Co. have begun their offseason work, including free agency, coaching staff changes, and especially draft prep.

Focusing just on the draft, the team is currently projected to have eight picks in this upcoming draft, and that number could very well change depending on compensatory picks and potential trades. What positions the Chiefs will look to target will depend on which players they re-sign, which they let walk, and any other players they bring onto the team through free agency.

But as of today, what positions could Kansas City target in the upcoming draft and what picks do they have to work with? Let’s answer both of these questions with a five-round mock draft for the Kansas City Chiefs.

player. 839. . OT. Volunteers . Darnell Wright. 31

The Chiefs grab their right tackle of the present and future with Darnell Wright. He’s projected to be picked anywhere from the late first round to the late second round but given that he’s NFL-ready, it’s okay if Kansas City reaches a little bit for him.

Darnell Wright has experience at both right and left tackle, playing the former in 2022 and surrendering only six pressures (zero sacks) in 507 pass-blocking snaps against primarily SEC competition. He has excellent power and experience but does need to improve his foot speed and 2022 was his only high-level season in college.

With Andrew Wylie likely to test free agency in March and Lucas Niang’s future being a huge question mark, Wright would be a solid addition to the offensive line since he can start immediately and be a force in the run game as a rookie.
