Joe Bleymaier

This coaching part is going to be pretty interesting to watch.

For all of the attention on what players Eric Bieniemy might work with in Washington, it should also be noted that he could take a coach or two to join his staff, given the amount of control he seems to have. One of the names on that list could be Joe Bleymaier.

Several names have been biding their time on the Chiefs sidelines waiting for the logjam to clear up top on the offensive side. With Bieniemy in place and unable to find a head coaching job for so long, there was nowhere to go, which is why the Chiefs lost former quarterbacks coach Mike Kafka two years ago to the New York Giants.

Even after losing Kafka, the Chiefs still had Bieniemy for two more years and even brought back former OC Matt Nagy, which could further halt the traffic flow north. No one knows who will be the team’s new quarterbacks coach, but there is more than one option and that could lead someone like Bleymaier to leave with Bieniemy.

Bleymaier has been with Andy Reid’s staff for seven years now, including the last two as wide receiver coach. He’s worked with quarterbacks next to Kafka and he was a quality control coach before that. He also comes with three years working on the University of Colorado coaching staff, which just so happens to be Bieniemy’s alma mater.

If Bieniemy wanted to bring Bleymaier along as his quarterbacks coach and right hand, it would help him implement his vision that much quicker and give Bleymaier a faster ticket to a coordinator role if things worked out as hoped.
