Chiefs news: Lane College defensive end earns interest from K.C.
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs are among teams that have shown interest in Lane College defensive end Andrew Farmer.
The Kansas City Chiefs are busy on two fronts these days, as one of two teams remaining that still has meaningful football left to play this season. While the majority of the organization is focused on Super Bowl LVII, a part of the front office continues to look forward to the future and focus on the upcoming offseason in which players will be signed and drafted.
One college prospect reportedly turning the heads of a few teams and scouts is Andrew Farmer, a defensive end out of Lane College. Justin Melo of The Draft Network reports that he spent time with eight different NFL teams at the Hula Bowl with the Chiefs as one of the key teams interested.
Melo also mentions the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, and Denver Broncos among the other teams spending time with Farmer.
Farmer’s stat sheet certainly tells one part of his story as a dominant pass rusher and edge defender at the Division II level. For the Dragons of Lane College, he had 44 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks over the last two seasons. The other side of the story, however, remains unknown as to how he projects from such a leap in competition. That said, Farmer has been in view of scouts and analysts for a while now due to his production, as Jordan Reid of ESPN even named him a top small-school player to watch coming into this season for next year’s draft.
The good news is that the Chiefs have had solid success coaching up defensive line prospects—or at least some of them. While Joshua Kaindoh has yet to provide any return on his fourth-round investment, the Chiefs have gotten a lot back from Michael Danna and Turk Wharton among others. Khalen Saunders also enjoyed a breakout effort in 2022.

How Chris Jones became a hero (SI.om)
Not only does Jones provide plenty of gifts for the Chiefs on the field (to the tune of 15.5 sacks on the year) but he’s also quite the philanthropist off of the field. Read this to make sure and like Stone Cold more than you did already.
Young defenders who deserve early extensions (PFF)
Hard to argue with any list that wants to reward L’Jarius Sneed as soon as possible.
