Patrick Mahomes has his eyes set on potentially getting into front office work when he’s done being the best at everything else.

At some point, there will be nothing left for Patrick Mahomes to accomplish. After toppling every quarterback record over his first few years in the league and establishing the NFL’s newest dynasty with the Kansas City Chiefs, he’s already turned his attention and considerable talents to other areas—from owning sports teams (no, not the Broncos) and being a family man to franchising restaurants and acting in commercials.

Now, Mahomes has let us in on a couple of steps he might take once he’s ready to hang up his cleats: being a general manager.

Mahomes spoke with a room full of reporters from Super Bowl LVII media week on Tuesday midday and answered a number of questions about the Chiefs’ season, his own ankle injury, and the legacy he’s forming with another Super Bowl appearance. However, he also had the chance to give us a potential glimpse of the future.

Yeah, Mahomes wants to be a general manager.

Given his attention to detail and his work ethic, we’ve no doubt that Mahomes could do whatever he wants in most disciplines, but it’s exciting to think about the possibility of the greatest quarterback to ever play the game helping the Chiefs to draft someone else to take those reins. Maybe Bronze Mahomes feels a passion for the same game and some crazy planetary alignment happens where he drafts his son. Okay, yeah, now we’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves.

What is cool is knowing that Mahomes has a love for the game that transcends actual gameplay and gets into roster construction and the way things work. That bodes well for the Chiefs’ ability to keep Mahomes in the building and/or involved with the franchise long after his playing days are over.

We’ll take as much of Mahomes as we can get.

Next. Chiefs who hope to play in their first Super Bowl. dark
