KC Chiefs are getting healthier as Super Bowl LVII approaches

Andy Reid told reporters that everyone on the Chiefs’ active roster is able to practice.
The Kansas City Chiefs came into the two-week break before Super Bowl LVII with a startling number of injury concerns following their win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the previous round of the NFL postseason. The good news is that many of those injuries weren’t long-term concerns and most of those players are now able to practice for the Chiefs in some capacity.
On Tuesday, head coach Andy Reid explained to the gathered media corps in Glendale that everyone on the Chiefs’ active roster will practice that afternoon.
The Chiefs were in a strange place coming into this week with so many injured players. After all, the Chiefs were one of the lucky franchises to start the playoffs with a bye week, and they were generally healthy even at season’s end. However, from star players to defensive contributors, the Chiefs lost a number of important pieces in the short span of time since then and had many reasons to worry.
With everyone practicing, fans can breathe easier, but it doesn’t mean the Chiefs are out of the woods yet. L’Jarius Sneed is officially out of concussion protocol so he will be back at practice. Willie Gay has been hurting as well, and it will be interesting to see if both defenders are fully practicing or held back to some degree.
Even Reid himself agreed that star quarterback Patrick Mahomes isn’t 100 percent after dealing with an ankle injury and all eyes will remain on Travis Kelce in hopes that his back spasms do not return. That doesn’t include the recent injuries suffered by JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kadarius Toney that kept them out of practice (estimation) last week.
The fact that all players are back in practice, however, is good news and shows the Chiefs are trending in the right direction. Final injury designations will be important to watch but things feel less dire than they did days ago for Chiefs Kingdom.
