Super Bowl Coaching Wins

Here is a list of the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history for head coaches. This list includes all the coaches that have more than one Super Bowl win.

1. Bill Belichick – 6

2. Chuck Noll – 4

3. Bill Walsh and Joe Gibbs – 3

4. All tied with 2 – Vince Lombardi, Tom Flores, Jimmy Johnson, George Seifert, Mike Shanahan, Tom Coughlin, Bill Parcells, Tom Landry, Don Shula

While I feel like Andy Reid’s track record of being the most consistent winner in the NFL is already enough to justify his placement as one of the top five coaches in NFL history, winning a second Super Bowl and getting his name on this list would prove that to even his biggest critics.

With this Super Bowl appearance Reid is also now one of just nine coaches in NFL history to coach in four or more Super Bowls. Here is the list of most Super Bowl appearances for coaches and their record in the Super Bowl.

1. Bill Belichick – 9 appearances (6-3 record)

2. Don Shula – 6 appearances (2-4 record)

3. Tom Landry – 5 appearances (2-3 record)

Then there are six coaches (now including Reid) that have four appearances

Chuck Noll – 4-0 record

Joe Gibbs – 3-1 record

Andy Reid – Either 2-2 or 1-3 record

Bud Grant – 0-4 record

Marv Levy – 0-4 record

Dan Reeves – 0-4 record

As I’ve said already, a win on Sunday would give Andy Reid the one thing his critics might use to argue he isn’t one of the all-time greatest coaches in NFL history. Let’s wrap this up with a few other closing thoughts on Reid’s legacy.
