Five unexpected heroes who stepped up for Chiefs vs Bengals

If it seems like we’re talking about a lot of the Chiefs’ rookie corners in this piece, well, then you know this group deserves as much applause as we can give them.
Not to be outdone by his rookie classmates, Joshua Williams came up huge for the Chiefs with a fourth-quarter interception that stopped the Bengals from driving for what could be the go-ahead score for them—their first lead of the game. Instead, the Chiefs got the ball back on what was essentially an arm punt from Joe Burrow, and Williams’ turnover gave the Chiefs control once again.
Williams played very well for a young developmental corner who was forced into major playing time in the wake of a head injury to L’Jarius Sneed. Just like that, Sneed was out early in the game and Williams was charged with being the next man up. With Sneed out, the Chiefs lost a major chess piece in the secondary for Spags, but Williams performed well under the pressure.
Williams was the biggest project of all of the team’s young corners coming into the season, a former HCBU product making the biggest jump in the competition of anyone. Everyone loved his pre-draft measurables and the Chiefs took a risk on him in the fourth because they didn’t want to see him slip further.
It’s in moments like this that you love to see things pay off.
