Skyy Moore, Wide Receiver (Round 2, Pick 54)
It was another quiet, but not completely uneventful, game for wide receiver Skyy Moore. He recorded one catch for no gain on two targets, plus three rushing yards on a single carry. On his one target, he caught a quick swing pass from a hobbled Patrick Mahomes early in the second quarter but appeared to have left some yards on the field as he could have ran more to the outside and then cut up the field for a bigger gain. He ended up running right into traffic and gaining nothing on the play. He ran the ball on a jet sweep but got lit up by Jacksonville’s Rayshawn Jenkins after gaining three yards.
Not a great day for Moore as he only saw two targets (one of which was manufactured for him) on six passing snaps. Kadarius Toney, Justin Watson, and Noah Gray all saw more snaps on passing plays, although he did have more targets than the latter two. As has been theorized for a while, the 2023 season will likely be Skyy Moore’s breakout campaign.
Bryan Cook, Safety (Round 2, Pick 62)
As has been the case for many games this season, Bryan Cook had a relatively quiet game as he played 19 defensive snaps. He was targeted once on an incomplete third-down pass intended for Christian Kirk, but Kirk slipped twice on the play, causing the timing of the play to be off. If Kirk never slipped, the could have easily been a huge gain, especially given that it was third down. He also had a tackle on a running play late in the first half. After Jaylen Watson’s huge fourth-quarter interception, Cook had an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty called against him, although that did not affect the outcome of the game.
Given that Juan Thornhill and Justin Reid have been playing very well over the past month, it’s not surprising that Bryan Cook’s playing time has been reduced. He’s still averaged around 16 snaps per game over the previous four games, but he will likely have a bigger role next season if soon-to-be free agent Juan Thornhill is not retained.
Isiah Pacheco, Running Back (Round 7, Pick 251)
Isiah Pacheco finished the game with 12 carries for 95 yards and one catch for six yards. He also had one of the plays of the game on offense as he had a huge 39-yard run to set up 1st and goal on the key 98-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter:
What made this run impressive was that it appeared he would be stuffed, but then he bounced outside and sprinted all the way to Jacksonville’s 4-yard line.
Isiah Pacheco is turning into a star right before our eyes. Many fans didn’t even know who he was nine months ago, and now he’s one of the most important players on a Super Bowl-caliber offense. He has the speed and toughness of a bell-cow running back and if he can develop his receiving and pass-blocking abilities, he’ll be a star in this league for a little while. Andy Reid needs to give him more than 12 carries a game, especially now that Patrick Mahomes’ health is now a question mark.
