Chiefs news: Andy Reid adds further postseason accolades
By Matt Conner
With the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid became the third NFL coach to reach 20 postseason wins.
At this point, the Hall of Fame card has been punched for Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid for quite some time. Not only does he have a run of success at the present time unlike most of his peers. His longevity in the league, his creative genius, his coaching tree—they all point to induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
On Saturday, in the Chiefs’ Divisional Round win against the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars, Reid added yet another impressive stat to his resume. With the team’s’ 27-20 win over the Jags, Reid earned his 20th postseason win, setting him beside NFL legends like Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys and Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots.
The downside to such continued success is that it all becomes so normalized that we forget just how special Reid’s coaching acumen can be. After all, he’s won 62 games in the last five seasons, delivered K.C.’s Super Bowl title in 50 years, and added another title appearance in the last few years. As long as he’s at the helm, Reid will likely only add more and more achievements to a coaching resume that’s among the best ever in the NFL.
