Travis Kelce is the ultimate outlet

What else can be written about Travis Kelce that hasn’t already been printed?

On Saturday, Kelce set a brand new mark for most catches in a postseason game by a tight end with 14. For the entire afternoon/evening, he was the lone dependable outlet for an injured Mahomes (and Chad Henne for a hot minute) and the Chiefs’ offense went to him and through him time and again for a full 60 minutes—good for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns on 17 targets.

When the Chiefs needed a first down on Saturday, Kelce came up big. When they needed someone reliable in the red zone, he came up big. The fact that Mahomes can trust Kelce to be exactly where he wants him to be speaks to the chemistry and trust involved and it’s rare to find this sort of connection in the NFL these days.

He might be well into his mid-thirties at this point, but Travis Kelce is playing better football than ever before. It sounds crazy after he’s already put together the sort of numbers that should have him bound for Canton, but he remains the ultimate outlet for the Chiefs’ offense and it’s exhilarating to watch him work.
