Patrick Mahomes

6th all-time in postseason passing touchdowns

Current Total: 28
Benchmark: 37 (Drew Brees)

Patrick Mahomes is currently sitting 11th all-time in career playoff passing touchdowns, which is insane since he’s still only 27. He would need to throw for 10 touchdowns this year to hit that benchmark, and that isn’t impossible considering that he hit that number in two of his past three postseasons. Nine would put him in 7th, five in 8th, four in ninth, and three in tenth. Barring an injury or shocking upset, it feels likely that he’ll be Top 10 when the season is over.

5th most total touchdowns in postseason history

Current Total: 33
Benchmark: 43 (Peyton Manning)

Similar to the previous one, Mahomes would need 11 touchdowns of any kind this year to already join the Top 5 ever. 11 may seem like a lot to ask, but he’s that he’s totaled at least 11 touchdowns in both 2019 and 2021. In addition, he could tie or pass Brett Favre for fourth all-time, but that requires him to have 12 or 13 touchdowns, respectively, although he hit 12 touchdowns in 2019 and 2021. He played in three games in those postseasons as well. Not likely but not impossible either.

10th most passing yards in postseason history

Current Total: 3,381
Benchmark: 3,952 (Kurt Warner)

Patrick Mahomes is 16th all-time in playoff passing yards but only needs 572 to jump into the Top 10, which is a 286 average for two games and 191 for three. This is very doable as long as the Chiefs don’t lose in the divisional round. He needs 1,130 yards to pass Dan Marino for ninth, but that requires him to average 377 yards over three games and is a pretty tall order even for a future Hall of Famer like Mahomes.
