KC Chiefs work out wide receiver Slade Bolden

The Kansas City Chiefs are taking a look at receiver and returner Slade Bolden, formerly from the University of Alabama.
The Kansas City Chiefs players and coaching staff are focused solely on the postseason road ahead with dreams of playing in Super Bowl LVII. The front office, however, is also turning over stones as they look ahead to potential signings and acquisitions that would help the team down the road. That latest effort has led to a workout for the Chiefs at Arrowhead on Monday for wide receiver Slade Bolden.
Bolden is a product of the University of Alabama who comes with experience as both a receiver and returner at the highest levels of college football.
Coming out of high school, Bolden tried to play as a safety before finding success as a slot receiver after redshirting his first year for Nick Saban. From there, he climbed the depth chart to put up the most production during his junior year with 42 catches for 408 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Bolden then decided to forgo his final year of eligibility with the Crimson Tide in order to turn pro. However, he went undrafted last spring and caught on with the Baltimore Ravens as a rookie free agent. He failed to make the active roster, however, and was injured with a sports hernia that, according to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, is now healed. The Ravens previously released him with an injury settlement.
For the Chiefs, Bolden’s value is going to come as a potential futures contract addition for 2023 where he could compete as a returner on a team that could lose Mecole Hardman in the offseason. If the Chiefs are going to nix the Skyy Moore experiment back there and lean on Kadarius Toney with a greater offensive load, it makes sense for the Chiefs to remake their options at returner and bring in some fresh competition moving forward.
