Ten years ago today, the Kansas City Chiefs hired Andy Reid. Ten years later, Andy Reid has given the franchise more than anyone could have expected.

Ten years ago today, the Kansas City Chiefs introduced Andy Reid as the 13th head coach in franchise history. Ten years later, the Chiefs have accomplished a lot under Reid’s guidance, which includes winning a playoff game for the first time in 22 years and the franchise’s first Super Bowl win and appearance in 50 years.

After a 2-14 season prior to Reid’s arrival, the Chiefs wasted no time turning the franchise around with a 9-0 start in 2013. From that point, the Chiefs never looked back. The Chiefs lead the NFL in total victories, regular and postseason, since 2013 with 116, according to Statmuse. The Chiefs have scored 513 touchdowns and average 27.5 points per game in the same timespan, which is the best in the NFL, according to Statmuse.

The Chiefs have surrendered 20.7 points per game, which is the fourth best in the NFL. When it comes to postseason wins alone, the Chiefs are tied with the Seattle Seahawks for the second most victories with nine behind New England’s 14.

According to Pro Football Reference, Reid has the second most total victories, regular and postseason, in Chiefs history with 116. That is eight wins behind franchise leader Hank Stram. Reid has coached the Chiefs to nine playoff wins, the most in team history, after the franchise went 22 years without a postseason victory. Reid also owns the best win percentage in Chiefs history with .720 as Marty Schottenheimer is second at .634.

Out of the eight head coaches hired in 2013, Reid is the only one has maintained his job. Reid currently sits fifth all time in NFL history with 235 wins.

Since Reid’s arrival, the Chiefs have always finished above .500 and have made the playoffs nine times in 10 seasons. Prior to Reid’s arrival, the Chiefs never won a division title in consecutive seasons. Now, the Chiefs have won seven consecutive AFC West titles. After only appearing in just two Super Bowls, the Chiefs equaled that total in as many seasons when they reached the Super Bowl for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. The Chiefs have also hosted the AFC Championship game for four consecutive seasons after never hosting it prior to the 2018 season.

What was once a struggling franchise, Reid has turned the Chiefs into the best team the past 10 years, earning the most wins in the NFL. The Chiefs are viewed as the standard by many media pundits and fans, something no Chiefs fan thought was possible a decade ago.

Reid has helped turn that into a reality.
