Resolution: Stop treating the first half of the season like it doesn’t matter

Orland Brown Jr. was brought to Kansas City to be Patrick Mahomes’ franchise left tackle. Brown is on the franchise tag this season because he wanted to be paid like the top left tackles in all of football and the Chiefs weren’t quite ready to do that. A big part of the reason the Chiefs were hesitant to do that is that in his first season in KC he really struggled early in the year. He did play much better down the stretch so the assumption was that KC wanted to see him play that well for a full season this time around.

Here’s the problem, this season was pretty much an exact repeat of last year. Brown struggled quite a bit early in the year and now that we’re approaching playoff time he’s started to look really good again. If Brown wants to be paid like the best left tackles in football he can’t only play like them at the end of the season. He has to prove he can be that good all year. If I was Brett Veach I would probably franchise tag Brown again unless his contract demands have dropped from last offseason.

Speaking of Brett Veach, I’ve got a resolution for him as well.
