Chiefs vs. Broncos: Joe Thuney leaves with right leg injury
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs are worried about an injury to Joe Thuney suffered during the team’s game against the Denver Broncos.
At this point in the season, the primary goal for any team with postseason hopes—other than clinching their official berth in the playoffs—is to make sure the roster is as healthy as possible. As the Kansas City Chiefs have two games to go, they’re looking fairly healthy overall but they can only hope to escape games against the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders with as few injuries as possible.
Unfortunately, the team is attending to left guard Joe Thuney in the second half of their Week 17 game at Arrowhead Stadium against the visiting Broncos.
Thuney went down early in the third quarter, on the Chiefs’ first drive of the second half. Specifically it looked as if trainers were attending to his right leg, but no official details were yet available.
Thuney just earned his first career Pro Bowl nomination this season as part of a celebrated Chiefs offensive front that also saw center Creed Humphrey and left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. honored for the same.
Nick Allegretti would be next man up for Thuney, who has also missed the first games of his NFL career this season with an ankle injury back in November.
