The Kansas City Chiefs should be able to handle the visiting Denver Broncos in Week 17, but what about the spread?

The Kansas City Chiefs will play host one more time during this regular season as they wrap up the season series with their divisional rivals, the Denver Broncos.

Here in Week 17, the picture plays out much differently than anyone would have predicted before the season began. In the wake of the Russell Wilson trade and the Randy Gregory signing, the Broncos looked like a menacing opponent who might have finally solved their biggest concern. Instead, they’ve fallen apart and major financial commitments (as well as a lack of draft picks) make the future look even worse.

Can the Broncos at least find the pride to provide a challenge? Can they even surprise the Chiefs who might be tempted to look beyond them? It’s hard to imagine the Chiefs doing just that considering how tough the Broncos proved to be just a few weeks ago.

Chiefs vs Seahawks Week 16 odds

The Chiefs have opened here at 11.5-point favorites, per Draft Kings, which is a sign that oddsmakers believe the Chiefs have learned their lesson from earlier in December of not taking them quite so seriously. Somehow the Chiefs were up by 27 points on the road at Denver through only a quarter and a half and yet eked by with a win after four quarters.

The Chiefs just beat the Seahawks by 14 in a game that was hardly a team firing on all cylinders and remember K.C. was well on their way to beating Denver by twice this much before they suffered a minor meltdown. If K.C. is cruising to any degree, an 11.5-point spread will look like easy money when all is said and done.

The total point spread is 44 and that could be a challenge for Denver to score that many in the face of a Chiefs defense looking for a late-season statement. Take the spread and the under and expect to see Chad Henne by the fourth quarter.
