KC Chiefs vs Seahawks: Prediction and odds for Week 16

The Kansas City Chiefs should beat the visiting Seattle Seahawks at home, but will they be able to cover the spread in Week 16?

The Kansas City Chiefs are back at Arrowhead Stadium this week after a couple of shakier than expected road contests at Denver and Houston. Instead of torching the fading Broncos and steamrolling the Texans, the Chiefs had major problems with each and even required overtime to get out of Houston with a victory.

Now the Seattle Seahawks are coming to Arrowhead to give the Chiefs a break at home and it’s hard to know what to make of a Kansas City roster that plays down to its competition and yet continues to win each week. The Chiefs are 11-3, after all, so it should be hard for anyone to complain, yet given the way they’ve played lately, it’s difficult to find anyone praising the Chiefs in the last few weeks.

How will things turn out? What should we expect? Can a Seattle team that’s lost four of its last five come through with a major road victory? Let’s look at the initial odds to open the week.

Chiefs vs Seahawks Week 16 odds

To open the week, the Seahawks are 9.5 underdogs to the Chiefs in a spread that will likely only get further apart as the game creeps closer. The Chiefs are healthy and should get Mecole Hardman back in a move that will bolster their red zone offense and overall team speed.

With Kadarius Toney also healthy, the Chiefs should be back to their high-scoring ways. That should help force a tempo that the Seahawks simply cannot match without Tyler Lockett available (broken finger). All together, the Seahawks have talented players and are well-coached, but the Chiefs are favored by so much for good reason.

This game could also come down to turnovers. The Chiefs have had problems all season with turnovers, but Pete Carroll’s team has committed at least one in every single game in ’22. If the Chiefs can minimize their mistakes, this could be over quickly.

The over/under here is 48.5 total points and I’d be inclined to take the under.

Chiefs vs Seahawks prediction Week 16

The Seahawks are in the midst of a season-defining spiral that has cost them control over their own destiny, and it’s hard to see them pulling up in time to save the season when on the road at Arrowhead. Geno Smith is a good story but Smith vs. Mahomes is not an exciting matchup. This one comes down to QB differential.
