The Kelce Connection

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Eagles center Jason Kelce are brothers, of course, and have both been in the league for over a decade. Jason, the elder brother, is a four-time All-Pro center for the Eagles and hasn’t missed a start since 2014. He and Travis grew up together in Cleveland, Ohio, and played at the University of Cincinnati together from 2009-2010. The 35-year-old center is one of a handful of members still on the Eagles roster from the 2017 Super Bowl winners, and while he would love nothing more than to beat his brother’s team on the game’s biggest stage, their brotherhood extends far beyond their competitiveness on the gridiron.

The matchup would also bring another level of recognition for the Kelce brothers’ new podcast, “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce“, which is already the top-rated sports podcast on most platforms. Travis and Jason clearly have a future in radio when their playing days are done. The show features the brothers talking about each of their teams’ games the prior week, as well as any other big news from around the league. They have also hosted well-known guests, such as Jalen Hurts, Paul Rudd, and Patrick Mahomes, and they are an excellent combination of football insight and humor.

Travis, 33, is of course the league’s premier tight end and one of the most prominent pass catchers regardless of position. A three-time All-Pro, Travis Kelce leads the NFL in touchdown receptions this season with 12 and, like his big brother, also boasts a Super Bowl ring. Kelce has elevated his game with consistent, elite play to the point where he is arguably the greatest to ever play the position.

I don’t know what would be better: seeing the two brothers face off in the Super Bowl or hearing their podcasts before and after the game. It would be the ultimate one-up in their brotherhood and friendship, and a top-tier talking point leading into the game, for certain.

The next narrative is probably the most obvious. When you think about the Chiefs and Eagles, one name always comes to mind: Andy Reid.
