The Kansas City Chiefs have lost JuJu Smith-Schuster to an injury in their Week 13 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.
Update: Great news for the Chiefs! Smith-Schuster came back into the game shortly before halftime.
The Kansas City Chiefs have lost wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to an injury during their Week 13 visit with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Shortly after the Chiefs went to Smith-Schuster to help convert an important fourth-down call as quarterback Patrick Mahomes was trying to keep an offensive drive alive, the wide receiver caught a five-yard pass when the Chiefs needed four to convert. However, he took a hit to the head on the play and left the field to seek medical attention from Kansas City’s training staff.
Smith-Schuster was forced to miss one-plus games in recent weeks due to being in the concussion protocol as it was, so the fact that this could be a similar sort of injury is scary in ways. That said, it’s important to wait for details to come in.
Either way, Smith-Schuster is so important for the Chiefs in a number of ways and it’s frustrating to see him dealing with injuries.
The Chiefs signed Smith-Schuster to a one-year deal this offseason but fans have been vocal about their hopes that general manager Brett Veach will find a way to keep him in Kansas City beyond the ’22 season
So far this year, Smith-Schuster has 49 catches for 653 yards for the Chiefs.
