A look at the AFC West following a week when everything went the Chiefs’ way and the Broncos, Chargers, and Raiders are left losers.

Welcome back to another edition of Around the AFC West. I took my bye week last week (much needed) and now we are back to celebrate what can only be described as a perfect week for the Chiefs! That’s right, the gauntlet that was supposed to be the AFC West has suddenly turned into a one-team race and everything is falling right for the Chiefs.

Before we get into how great this week was, however, let’s look at the miserable shells of teams that had much worse weeks.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are so injured it almost makes me sad. Look, they were the champions of the AFC West and honestly, there was probably some truth behind the projections. They have so much talent but for whatever reason, they just cannot get out of their own way. Is it the coaching? I would argue that is part of it, but the injuries are so consistent you have to wonder what is going on in the locker rooms or during training.

The Chargers entered Sunday Night Football hoping to keep their season alive in a tough AFC. If they don’t win some games, they are looking at potentially missing the playoffs. In a game that saw the Chargers go up early, the 49ers’ defense ultimately made the difference. That is a great defense, but it didn’t help that the Chargers looked like this by the end of the game:

Good. Lord.

I really do wish Herbert had a better team or a less unlucky team around him because he is a great quarterback – I mean look at this:

He is a great quarterback, if he had a team that could stay healthy and protect him, then maybe all the offseason predictions would come true. Regardless, I’m looking forward to what’s coming up. Next week, the Chiefs have made it clear what’s up.

A Sunday Night Football matchup that probably decides the division? Count me in.
