Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown seems quite happy that he’s no longer a part of the team’s offense from his posts on Sunday.
Malik Willis isn’t exactly connecting with his wide receivers, and we’re pretty sure A.J. Brown is still laughing about it several hours later.
The Tennessee Titans visited the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, and while they played them much tougher than most people expected—take one look at the fact that oddsmakers had the Chiefs at 12.5 point favorites to start the week—the team’s offense was pathetic for the duration, save for the second-quarter heroics of Derrick Henry. As for rookie starter Malik Willis and the team’s passing offense, there’s very little to focus on.
Willis completed only five passing attempts for the second consecutive week. Last week against the Houston Texans, he finished 5 of 10, but it was even worse against Kansas City after he went 5 of 16 for 80 yards. Three of those passes were caught by tight ends (Austin Hooper caught two) and running backs caught the other two. That means the team’s wide receiving corps was left without a single catch on the night.
To be honest, there weren’t even that many targets. Robert Woods was targeted twice. Chris Conley had 1 target as did Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Cody Hollister. If that sounds like something you don’t see every day, you’d be right. Check out this stat that tells the rarity of such a display of offensive ineptitude.
Titans haven't completed a pass to wide receiver all game. Only teams since 2000 w/out a completion to a WR:

While that’s brow-raising for most fans, one observer, in particular, had a lot of fun looking at the situation from the outside. Check out what former Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown posted late in the game.

Brown was a member of the Titans from 2019 through 2021 and made the Pro Bowl in 2020 as a bright young receiver who began his career with consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. However, the Titans decided they wanted to trade Brown away before he got too expensive, and the Philadelphia Eagles offered up an acceptable bounty in return. Draft weekend sent Brown away to Philly in exchange for the team’s first-round pick and was replaced by Treylon Burks.
These days, Brown is playing for the NFL’s only undefeated team and enjoying playing with Jalen Hurts and a loaded offense. No wonder he’s laughing these days, especially after watching such a historically poor performance.
