A look around the AFC West as the Chiefs and Chargers come off their bye weeks, the Broncos win in London, and the Raiders are embarrassed.

Welcome to a nice short edition of Around the AFC West after Week 8.

I was supposed to be in trial this week, so I was really thankful that the Chiefs and Chargers both had their bye week since it meant I had an extra three hours of prep time on Sunday. Our trial ended up getting continued so I was able to spend a lot of time sleeping and watching football. Is there anything better?

Let’s get into the action of the last week and how things look in the AFC West.

Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers

Like I said, this will be short. The Chiefs and Chargers both had their bye weeks and are getting healthy heading into the second half of the season.

The NFL’s trade deadline did come and go on Tuesday afternoon, and the Chiefs traded cornerback Rashad Fenton in the final minutes. The Chargers were silent. Tons of other teams made moves but the two best teams in the AFC West liked what they saw on the roster and remained pretty quiet.

The Chiefs also just activated first-year cornerback Trent McDuffie!  We will see the return of the first-round corner next week as the Chiefs take on the Titans on Sunday Night Football. A welcome return to a young secondary.

The Chargers get an extended bye when they take on Atlanta. Atlanta is coming off a tough win against Carolina that went into overtime. I think the Chargers likely win despite their injury struggles.

But now, let’s get into the teams from the AFC West that actually competed this week…
