Harrison Butker, K

Technically, Harrison Butker returned to the team before the bye and could be considered in the clear. If you watched his performance in Week 7, however, you’ll recall the fact that he missed a field goal from just under 40 yards out—a chip shot for a guy like Butker and a very rare miss. Fortunately it was not enough to hurt the team given the final deficit between the Chiefs and Niners.

Here’s what we do know: Butker injured his ankle on his plant foot in Week 1 and was immediately in a lot of pain. He still kicked a long field goal with a gutsy attempt that made us all love him more, but it was also good to see him get his rest over the next few weeks, since we all know how important a weapon he can be for the Chiefs in close games.

Butker would end up missing four games, and though he’s been back for two, this bye week has to be good for a guy who might be toughing it out through some further ankle pain or at least adjustments to discomfort. Butker is a major asset (an underrated one at that) who has proven difficult to replace. Chiefs Kingdom now feels greater appreciation for him than ever before.
