Joshua Williams, Cornerback (Round 4, Pick 135)

Cornerback Joshua Williams made his first career start on Sunday after Rashad Fenton was inactive due to a hamstring injury and Trent McDuffie could not return from his hamstring injury. Williams played 55 defensive snaps, which was about 75% of the total snaps. In 31 coverage snaps, he was targeted seven times and allowed five catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Allen had a passer rating of 153.3 when he targeted a receiver guarded by Williams. In man coverage alone, Allen was 3-for-5 for 62 yards, two touchdowns, and a passer rating of 143.3.

Despite the rough day in coverage, Williams had a great day stopping the run. In 24 run defense snaps, he recorded two tackles (1 solo) plus a defensive stop. He also blitzed thrice and had two hurries on Josh Allen.

Overall, Williams did not have the best first NFL start but it was not without positives. He was drafted to be a project cornerback and was always going to need time to grow since he played college football at a Division II program. Similar to Sunday, he will only start in case of injury or if the Chiefs rest their starters. He played like a rookie and that’s okay.

Isiah Pacheco, Running Back (Round 7, Pick 251)

Isiah Pacheco saw more action on offense against Buffalo than he did against Las Vegas. He totaled just two carries for 9 yards but also had two receptions for 9 yards on ten total snaps on offense. He also returned three kickoffs for a total of 43 yards.

Isiah Pacheco should see more snaps than he currently is getting. He is more explosive than CEH and is much faster as well. He is still working on his pass protections skills but he runs with more anger than both McKinnon and CEH. He should not be the bell cow running back for Kansas City but he should see his share of rush attempts increase.

Skyy Moore, Wide Receiver (Round 2, Pick 54)

Skyy Moore did not see much playing time but had a big 24-yard catch in the third quarter. Overall, he saw three targets, which resulted in a single catch for 24 yards on 20 offensive snaps. He also had a single punt return for six yards. Moore has played at least 20 snaps on offense in each of the past three games after he played fewer than 15 in each of the first three games of 2022.

Many Chiefs are frustrated that rookie Skyy Moore hasn’t seen more playing time but the snaps will come with time. His role isn’t very important today but will be when the playoffs arrive.
