Four Chiefs players who could reach their first Pro Bowl in 2022

Punter Tommy Townsend
Football specialists are usually not talked about unless they do something wrong. Just look at Matt Ammendola and Matthew Wright, Chiefs kickers that drew little praise when good but waves of ire when bad. Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend is much better than fans may realize, but that is because he doesn’t mess up often.
The Florida alum has appeared in 37 regular season games for the Chiefs, punting 104 times and averaging 47 yards per punt. But, his 2022 performance has been something else. He averages 53.3 yards per punt, with one punt traveling 74 yards. That is the league’s longest punt this season and the third-longest in Chiefs franchise history. His 4.97 average kick hangtime, 48.7 average net yards, and several more stats lead the league’s punters.

Being the punter for one of the league’s best offenses might be an easy job, as Townsend only has 15 punt attempts this season. However, he has made the most of his opportunities.
The Pro Bowl selections at kicker and punter can be a tossup some years. The fans’ vote plays a heavy role in each year’s selection. The Chiefs Kingdom will have to show up for Townsend, but he also has a very strong case for the Pro Bowl.
