At the conclusion of the first half against the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy were seen arguing and had to be separated by head coach Andy Reid.

The Chiefs are having issues in this game, such as in special teams and Patrick Mahomes missing a wide-open Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a potential long touchdown, but they are still winning 14-10. Mahomes is not having his best game as he’s 10 of 14 for 84 and a touchdown, plus a couple of missed throws.

It’s very possible that Mahomes was upset about Bieniemy calling a run play on third and 20 with 20 seconds remaining in the half, with zero timeouts, instead of calling a hail mary or another deep shot. In the end, I think the play call was correct as the Chiefs would have risked an interception or fumble, which could have given the Colts points.

Whether this argument helps bring the offense together and helps them get their stuff together in the second half remains to be seen. It could also be a signal of problems in the future. There has been reported tension in the past between offensive players on the Chiefs and Eric Bieniemy, so this argument may prove those rumors true.
