KC Chiefs will miss Harrison Butker for second straight game

The practice sessions are closed. The injury reports are in. The Kansas City Chiefs are ready to take on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium and both sides are missing some key players. For the Chiefs, it will be their second straight game without the steady work of Harrison Butker.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced that Butker was out for Week 3 along with defensive end Mike Danna in comments to reporters on Friday. That means Matt Ammendola will once again be the substitute for the Chiefs for any special teams action,
Butker first went down for the Chiefs back in Week 1 when his plant foot slipped on a kickoff—a scenario Reid attributed to turf conditions in Arizona—in the first quarter of a win over the Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs leaned on safety Justin Reid to fill in for kickoffs for the rest of that game, but that wasn’t a long-term answer and they signed former Jets kicker Matt Ammendola to take over until Butker is back.
The official injury reports for Sunday are out and the Kansas City Chiefs will be missing Harrison Butker for a second consecutive game in Week 3.
Last week, the Chiefs played a close game against the L.A. Chargers, but Ammendola performed as hoped with two short field goal makes in two attempts and three extra points made. It’s uncertain when Butker will be back but clearly, the Chiefs are looking at his injury with long-term concerns in mind.
As for Danna, his absence will be felt in the rotation but the Chiefs did add Benton Whitley from the Rams this week to help as a depth piece. George Karlaftis will earn more playing time, which should be a nice homecoming of sorts back in Indiana, where Karlaftis played his college ball just up the interstate at Purdue.
The Chiefs and Colts kick off their Week 3 contest at 12:00 p.m. C.T.
