Let’s look around the AFC West as the Broncos show they really haven’t changed, the Chargers look tough, Raiders gonna Raider, and Chiefs dominate.
Welcome to the 2022 edition of Around the AFC West where we will take a weekly look at the gauntlet that is the AFC West. All I can say is I am thrilled that football is back on my TV three days per week. Is there anything better??? I say no. So, without further ado, let’s look at our AFC West opponents and the best team on earth and see how they fared in Week 1.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers played host to the Raiders on Sunday to open their 2022 campaign. Justin Herbert picked up right where he left off last season. He is a great quarterback and certainly a long-time tough competitor in the AFC West. This season, the Chargers have to be all in with Herbert still on his rookie deal and only becoming more expensive as the years tick by.
Herbert proved on Sunday why he is so good.

I mean, that’s pretty awesome. Credit where credit is due. Herbert threw three touchdowns in their win on Sunday, but the Chargers did not come out of the game clean. Keenan Allen suffered a hamstring injury, the extent of which is still relatively unknown.
#Chargers WR Keenan Allen is unlikely to play Thursday night against the #Chiefs, but there is optimism after tests that his hamstring injury isn’t anything long-term, per sources. Next game is Sept. 25 against the #Jaguars, two full weeks after the injury.

He probably isn’t playing in Thursday Night Football‘s incredible matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. This is the Chiefs’ home opener, but the Chargers have done well beating the Chiefs at home the last few years. They will need to put in a near-perfect game if they want to deal with what we saw from Mahomes on Sunday. I cannot wait. Is it Thursday yet??
