Five reasons to buy into the Kansas City Chiefs Week 1 hype
5. The Rookies Also Look Good
The Chiefs looked fantastic in week one of the regular season and they had six rookies play important roles. George Karlaftis is a key part of the pass rush rotation. Trent McDuffie played well as a starting cornerback and when he got hurt fellow rookie Jaylen Watson played well in his absence. Skyy Moore looked great as a punt returner and had a great 30-yard reception. Bryan Cook was the team’s third safety and Isiah Pacheco was very effective running the ball late and even scored his first touchdown.
Rookies often take time to adjust to the NFL, so the fact that they looked good and the team looked this good playing this many rookies is very encouraging. If these rookies only improve as the season goes on and they get more accustomed to the speed of the NFL game it would mean the sky is the limit (pun intended) for them and the team as a whole. Hopefully, McDuffie’s injury isn’t serious because the Chiefs may need him to keep up with Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ passing attack on Thursday.
So what do you think Chiefs fans? Do you agree with my reasons to buy into the Chiefs hype after week one? Are there any reasons you’re excited that you think I’m overlooking? Are you feeling more cautious than I am after week one? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
