Week 3: at Indianapolis Colts (12:00, CBS)

The Chiefs will play the Colts in the regular season for the first time since 2019. This will be one of the most underrated games of the entire NFL schedule. Indianapolis has a well-rounded team with a solid offensive line, great backfield, solid defense, and a good quarterback. The only true questions about the team are the receiving weapons and whether Matt Ryan has a resurgence with Frank Reich.

Kansas City has the advantage of coming off of a “mini-bye” due to playing on Thursday the week before. This should push them over the edge towards a victory at Lucas Oil Stadium. It won’t be easy but they should get the job done.

Result: Chiefs WIN 26-20 and climb to 3-0.

Week 4: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7:20, NBC)

In one of the most anticipated matches all season for Kansas City, the Chiefs will travel to Tampa for the first time since the infamous Super Bowl LV loss in February of 2021. This game was going to be chalked up as a win for the Chiefs after Tom Brady “retired” but is now one of their most difficult games. It’s also one of the most hyped-up games of the entire NFL season.

The Bucs are one of the most well-rounded teams in the league and have a stacked offense and defense. One thing that is a serious question mark is their health on offense. Wide receiver Chris Godwin is coming off of a torn ACL from last December and his status is unclear to start the season, center Ryan Jensen is hurt and won’t return until later in the season, and guard Aaron Stinnie also had his season prematurely end because of an injury.

Despite the injuries, the Bucs will likely be the favorites in this game and this is where the Chiefs will suffer the first defeat of the season.

Result: Chiefs LOSE 35-28 and fall to 3-1.

Week 5: vs Las Vegas Raiders (7:15, ESPN)

The Raiders come to town for a Monday Night Football matchup against one of their most hated rivals.

With the additions of Davante Adams and Chandler Jones, Las Vegas is one of the teams being viewed as a “sleeper” in the NFL. Las Vegas should be a good team but due to the difficulty of the AFC West, they may be the odd ones out in the division and have a disappointing campaign. Their offensive line is atrocious and their defense might not be much better. Derek Carr is decent but is also very streaky at the same time.

Primetime at Arrowhead is a different beast and I project that the Raiders will not enjoy their trip to the midwest and Kansas City beats them handily.

Result: Chiefs WIN 37-24 and go to 4-1.
