15. The David King trade

Chiefs receive: DE David King

Titans receive: 2018 conditional seventh-round pick

A move in Veach’s first season as general manager, trading away defensive end David King is one of the most inconsequential. King was likely not going to make the Chiefs’ 2018 53-man roster due to plenty of options on the line. King was already on his third NFL team, so getting something for King was a win.

Unfortunately, the seventh-round pick acquired from King was used in another inconsequential trade. The Chiefs traded two 2018 seventh-round picks to the New England Patriots for the 198th overall selection. The Chiefs then selected defensive tackle Kahlil Mckenzie, a failed offensive line conversion project.

King did play in seven games in 2017 for the Titans but he was hardly a difference maker for the team. Tennessee released him during roster cuts before the 2018 season, and he has not played with another franchise since.
