Jack Cochrane

The ability to sign Cochrane to the practice squad is probably the single biggest “fingers crossed” situation of anyone listed here on this list simply because the Chiefs had to give him a considerable signing bonus just to get him to join the roster as a priority free agent linebacker following the draft.

Cochrane was an impact defender and team captain in the heart of South Dakota’s defense who ended up as the team’s sixth-leading tackler of all time. During his final season, he had 10 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 4 interceptions and displayed the skills to contribute on special teams and as a backup Will linebacker at the next level.

The Chiefs went with Darius Harris as their final linebacker, which leaves Cochrane in a vulnerable position. A needy team could make an impressive grab here for developmental talent, but the Chiefs didn’t flip Cochrane for anything before the deadline, so perhaps the market has settled here. Our bet is that Cochrane will stick with the Chiefs and make a stronger push for a roster spot in 2023.
